The TransForm™ point-to-point encryption technology protects cardholder data (both swiped and key-entered)
immediately at the point of entry, resulting in risk reduction and transference. The
transmission of cardholder information is completely removed. According to the PCI Security Standards
Council, encrypted data may be deemed out of scope if the entity that possesses the data does not have
the means to decrypt it. Because data is decrypted within Element’s
Level 1 PCI DSS compliant data
centers (not by the merchant or software provider), TransForm™ renders cardholder data unreadable,
removing the value to hackers and exempting it from PCI compliance requirements
(PCI SSC FAQ 10359).
Integration Made Easy Through Element’s XML Device Message Format
In addition to traditional hardware devices requiring bi-directional communication, Element TransForm™
features a comprehensive line of uni-directional, keyboard-emulated (driverless) solutions which make
implementation pain & hassle-free.
ISVs incorporating TransForm™ devices into their fully integrated processing solution simply capture
the XML message generated by the device (and defined by Element) which contains the non-sensitive and
encrypted data needed to perform a payment transaction. The business management application parses and
transmits the data to the Element Express Processing Platform’s API for processing.
Unlike other solutions where protocols vary between devices and require individual integration efforts,
with TransForm™, integration is a one-time event. TransForm™ point of sale solutions utilize the same XML
message format, allowing ISVs to offer the entire suite of devices after completing a single, simple integration.
Merchants plug the device into a USB port on the point-of-sale system and begin processing encrypted,
out-of-scope transactions.
