To gain a better understanding of the security features inherent to the Element Express Processing Platform, follow two sample request scenarios as they make their way through the payment system.

Merchant POS Transaction

Once a merchant’s POS software prompts for payment, a credit card is swiped through a secure card reader where it is immediatly encrypted. The POS software submits this secured payment data via the Internet (HTTPS) to the Element Express Processing Platform for a real-time authorization request from the issuing bank. The approval response is then returned to the POS software to record the successful payment transaction, and neither the merchant nor the POS software requires access to sensitive cardholder information.

Merchant Recurring Billing Transaction

Once a merchant has scheduled a payment within their recurring billing system, their software submits transaction details, along with the previously acquired PASS record identifier, via the Internet (HTTPS) to the Element Express Processing Platform for a real-time authorization request from the issuing bank. The approval response is then returned to the recurring billing system to record the successful payment transaction, and neither the merchant nor the recurring billing system requires access to the sensitive cardholder information.
