Element removes some of the guesswork with CardSense™, an innovative, PCI DSS compliant credit card payment processing technology, which offers merchants the ability to identify a customer’s payment card type prior to processing a transaction. Based on this information, merchants can make informed decisions on how to handle payments, resulting in risk reduction, lower transaction fees, and improved overall operational costs. Merchants in industries that require and/or could benefit from card type identification include, but are not limited to, car rental, lodging, healthcare and retail.
CardSense™ does not require additional hardware to utilize and in fully integrate with a merchant’s POS system. Just swipe or enter the credit card number as normal and the CardSense™ allows the merchant to identify PIN debit, prepaid debit or healthcare cards prior to processing the payment transactions.
How it Works
When a customer swipes or key enters a card, the cardholder information is transmitted to the point of sale application and passed along to the Element Express Processing Platform. Express queries the CardSense™ database and issues a response to the point of sale application indicating the card type. With this information you can decide how to proceed with the transaction.
